About us
History and Philosophy
Glen Hochstetter founded Hammersmith Inc. in 1980 with the goal of building
the highest quality, custom, passive solar and energy efficient homes.
The philosophy, which holds true today, is to execute projects to the highest
standards possible.
This philosophy has lead the company through 29 years of constructing elegant, creative projects and achieving exceptional customer satisfaction.
Our Mission
Hammersmith’s mission is to offer clients the most positive construction
experience available in Litchfield and northern Fairfield County Connecticut.
This is achieved by providing the highest degree of professionalism by our
company, our suppliers and subcontractors, along with expert craftsmanship,
clear communication, creativity, and transparent job cost accounting.
The end result is a home or addition where the quality of the
completed job far exceeds our customers’ expectations. Hammersmith
fosters a positive working relationship with clients that can last for many
years.
Our clients continue to call Hammersmith, Inc. for future work, repairs, and maintenance as they come to trust our integrity. Our clients consistently recommend our services to others. Satisfied clients are our best advertisers.
Integrity
Since Hammersmith’s incorporation in 1980, we have built custom homes
for a diverse list of clients with the highest integrity possible. We believe
in the importance of integrity behind the walls, as well as the expert craftsmanship
we provide on the surfaces of our finished spaces. This also holds true in
our relationships with our clients and architects.
We believe that open, honest, clear dialogue is critical between all parties
and enables projects to meet timetables, budgets and to navigate the challenges
that arise
Flexibility
Hammersmith, Inc. focuses on custom, residential, projects. We have achieved
great success with many styles and sizes of new construction, period home
renovations and additions. See our Project Portfolio for some samples.
Hammersmith excels on conceptually, mechanically, and design challenging
projects. We enjoy putting our 30 years of experience to work on jobs that
fall “outside of the box.”
Longevity
We strive to build longevity into the work we do by using high quality materials,
paying attention to details, and practicing patience in the building process.
We also pay close attention to our customers, their questions and ideas,
and work to build long lasting relationships with our clients, architects,
and trade associates.
Building is a process. For us it is an artful process. We deliver the finest product available.
